Major Microscope Manufacturers

There are four "full-line" microscope manufacturers today that provide microscope systems for amateur to advanced applications:

Leica microscopes. The Leica brand is a conglomerate formed by the merger of Leitz, Wild, American Optical, Bausch & Lomb, Cambridge, Reichert and Jung.

Nikon microscopes. Nikon is a major Japanese brand of microscope. The Optiphot, Lapophot and Eclipse line of microscopes are popular and of great quality.

Olympus microscopes. Olympus is another major Japanese brand of microscope. The BH and BX line of microscopes are also popular.

Zeiss microscopes. Zeiss is a high-quality brand from Germany known for their superb optics and top-of-the-line advanced microscope systems.

In addition, Celestron microscopes and Meade microscopes are popular for student-hobbyist use and for schools.
